- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1 cup jam (apricot or raspberry)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and cream cheese.
- Add sugar and vanilla to the butter mixture.
- Gradually add the flour mixture until combined.
- Chill the dough for at least one hour.
- Roll out the dough into a circle.
- Spread jam over the dough evenly.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts on top of the jam.
- Cut the circle into wedges and roll them up from the wide end.
- Place the rolled rugelach on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature.
- Experiment with different jams or fillings.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
