Ingredients

  • 500g white fish fillets
  • 200g smoked haddock
  • 300ml milk
  • 50g butter
  • 50g plain flour
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 150g peas
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 900g potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 100ml double cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Boil the potatoes until soft, then mash with butter and cream.
  3. In a pan, melt butter and sauté onion until soft.
  4. Add flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually add milk, stirring until thickened.
  6. Add fish, peas, and parsley to the sauce.
  7. Pour the mixture into a baking dish.
  8. Top with mashed potatoes and smooth the surface.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.

Notes

  • Use any firm white fish.
  • For extra flavor, add a dash of lemon juice.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated.
