A delicious berry custard pastry topped with Italian crema.

- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 2 cups mixed berries
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry and place it in a tart pan.
- Prick the base with a fork and bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
- In a saucepan, combine milk, cream, and sugar over medium heat.
- In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and cornstarch until smooth.
- Slowly add the hot milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook until thickened.
- Stir in vanilla extract and let cool.
- Once cool, pour the custard into the baked pastry shell.
- Top with mixed berries and dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
- Use fresh or frozen berries.
- Chill the pastry before baking for a flakier texture.
- Italian crema can be made ahead of time.
