Description
A traditional Yule log cake, shaped like a log, often served during the Christmas season.
Ingredients

- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for frosting
- Chocolate shavings for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, beat eggs and granulated sugar until fluffy.
- In another bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Combine dry ingredients with the egg mixture.
- Add melted butter and vanilla extract, mix well.
- Pour the batter into a lined baking sheet and spread evenly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until set.
- Let it cool slightly, then roll the cake with the parchment paper.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Unroll the cake, spread cream, and re-roll it.
- Frost the outside with remaining cream and decorate with chocolate shavings.
Notes
- Make sure to roll the cake while it’s warm for easier handling.
- Chill the cake for an hour before serving for better flavor.
- You can substitute cocoa powder with melted chocolate if desired.
