Delicious vanilla custard cream squares with a buttery crust.
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup sugar (for custard)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for custard)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, butter, sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a baking dish.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, cornstarch, sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Pour the custard mixture over the baked crust.
- Bake for an additional 25 minutes or until set.
- Let cool before slicing into squares.
Notes
- Chill the squares before serving for best texture.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
