Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  5. Add molasses and eggs to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  6. Alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk to the wet ingredients, starting and ending with flour.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

  • Serve with whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
