Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or almonds)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add sugar, water, and salt. Stir continuously until the mixture reaches a boil.
  3. Reduce heat and continue to cook until the mixture reaches a hard crack stage (300°F).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the toffee mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let them melt.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly and sprinkle nuts on top.
  8. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
