Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup green food coloring
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  6. Divide the dough into three parts.
  7. Color one part red and another part green using food coloring.
  8. Roll each colored dough into a rectangle between parchment paper.
  9. Layer the colored doughs on top of each other and roll them up.
  10. Chill the roll for 30 minutes, then slice into cookies.
  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are light golden.
  12. Let cool and dust with powdered sugar.
