Description

American potato salad is a beloved dish that graces tables across the United States, known for its creamy texture and flavorful ingredients.


Ingredients

  • Potatoes: 2 lbs (about 900 g) of Yukon Gold or red potatoes
  • Mayonnaise: 1 cup (240 ml)
  • Mustard: 2 tablespoons (30 g) of yellow or Dijon mustard
  • Celery: 1 cup, diced (about 2-3 stalks)
  • Onion: 1/2 cup, finely chopped (about 1 small onion)
  • Hard-boiled eggs: 4, peeled and sliced
  • Salt and pepper: To taste
  • Paprika: For garnish, to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly and cut them into uniform cubes.
  2. Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10-15 minutes until tender but firm.
  3. Drain the potatoes and allow them to cool for 10-15 minutes.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise and mustard, stirring until well blended. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Gently fold the cooled potatoes into the mayonnaise mixture along with diced celery and chopped onion.
